Exclusive Interview with Leadership Coach, Chris March

Meet leadership coach, Chris March. Chris is a principled, passionate, and people-forward Travel and Real Estate business leader who has managed brands and mentored teams in England, Australia, and Canada. His mission is to make a positive difference to individuals and by extension, make the world a better place. Chris believes the key to making this happen is to continually coach current leaders in order to lift up our future leaders.

Below we caught up with Chris to learn more about his entrepreneurial journey so far.

Q. What was your biggest startup challenge and how did you overcome it?

Chris: I thought I wasn’t ready and needed to wait for the perfect time. There is never a perfect time to do it. Do it and learn as you grow!

Q. What are your top 3 favorite online apps, tools or resources and what do you love about them?

Chris: The ‘Calm’ app for meditation so I can focus.

The ‘AutoSleep’ app so I can track my sleep to be refreshed for the day ahead.

The Five-minute journal to become a better thinker and strengthen my self-discipline.

Q. In one sentence, what’s the best advice you’d give to someone just starting out on their entrepreneurial journey?

Chris: Fail forward!

Q. What’s one thing in your routine that you do consistently that has made a huge difference in your personal or business life?

Chris: I am up at 6:00 am every morning, exercising and meditating before I walk into the office. The goal is to close all of my exercise rings each day. I don’t feel as focused throughout the day if I haven’t worked out and meditated in the morning.

Q. Who are your mentors and inspiration? and what knowledge or insight did they give to you that was valuable?

Chris: Kobe Bryant is my main inspiration. I try to follow his Mamba Mentality philosophy. The philosophy is centered around working hard to fulfill one’s dreams and striving always to get better. It is a constant quest to be better today than you were yesterday. I try to instill the Mamba Mentality daily.

Q. What is your biggest piece of advice for current leaders?

Chris:  Be genuine and be accessible. If you have to deliver a tough message, be honest and truthful.

Q. What advice would you give to those who aren’t in leadership roles who aspire to be leaders within their organizations?

Chris:  Ask a leader within the organization whose leadership you admire and ask them to be your mentor to provide feedback to help you to develop your leadership skills.

Also, be passionate, have a positive attitude, and learn to listen and communicate effectively.

Q. What was the most important thing you learnt as a leader?

Chris: Talk less and listen more. Really listen to what people are saying instead of what for your chance to speak. Listening can be more valuable than talking.
