Here we sit down with Peter to know a bit more about his journey as an entrepreneur.

Q. Tell us a little more about your journey as an entrepreneur – how did you get started? What inspired you?

Peter: My mum got me a laptop in 2006, which led to many sleepless nights as there was so much I could do with it. I fully fell in love with technology then. I started a few businesses over the years in food, e-commerce, and other areas, but in all, the use/application of technology always gave me a strategic edge.

After some reflection just before the pandemic, I decided to shut my other businesses down and focus on just helping companies make sense of technology as this is something I can do even if I don’t get paid and I love every moment spent enabling businesses to leverage tech more effectively. Since launch in 2018, we have served clients from almost all continents, and one of the main attractions has been the ability to speak in the language of the business owner (minimal jargon) and empathize with their issues.

Q. What entrepreneurial tricks have you discovered to keep you focused and productive in your day-to-day busy schedule?

Peter: Having a paper timetable is invaluable for planning my days intentionally, I’ve mentioned this in various interviews.

I build in daily planning sessions the night before, as well as weekly reviews to step back and realign.

My task-tracking app helps me stay on top of both short- and long-term goals. Implementing processes and checklists for common tasks has also streamlined efficiency. I tend to break even the simplest tasks into a process.

Also, recently, I’ve started to prioritize exercise, which I’ve discovered greatly boosts my energy and mental clarity.

Q. How do you stay organized with such a busy schedule? What are some time management strategies, SOPS (standard operating procedures), hires, or hacks that have helped you dramatically in business

Peter: Hiring an executive assistant has been invaluable – with reliable admin support, I can devote energy to high-impact areas. I also externalize tasks rigorously onto prioritized to-do lists, calendars synced across devices, and apps to optimize project management.

I start each morning reviewing the MIT (most important tasks) for that day so my schedule aligns with overarching goals rather than getting overwhelmed and reactive to urgent issues. Planning my day every evening is also crucial for feeling organized and intentional with heavy workloads.

Another major hack is process documentation – creating manuals detailing every new business process and system so that tasks can be delegated or automated easily.

Finally, batching similar tasks through time blocking has helped massively to minimize context switching and distractions. Focusing deeply on singular tasks makes me far more productive than a scattered approach.

With these time optimization strategies, streamlined communication channels, and processes, I can run meetings, oversee projects, and handle client issues in a focused, stress-free way even as business scales.

Q. What is the most memorable thing you’ve done since you started your business?

Peter: Since starting Target ICT in 2018, I believe the most memorable success story closest to my heart has been the launch of the Tech Your Business Podcast in 2022.

Prior, I had always been happy being behind the scenes, quietly growing the business, and helping my consulting clients transform their technical operations. However, with encouragement from close friends and clients, I decided to leave my comfort zone and launch the podcast.

Sharing tips and advice and having raw conversations with fellow entrepreneurs, tech experts, and business leaders has helped so many business owners I would have never reached otherwise. In just over a year, the show has had listeners and guests from all continents, which fulfills my mission of empowering all businesses to operate smoothly.

Beyond the audience impact, the podcast has blessed me with fantastic new friendships and partnerships. Recording episodes has also proven lots of fun, getting to follow my curiosity researching trending tech topics and stepping into the hosting chair remains the most memorable “pinch me” moment, opening unexpected joys and connections all rooted in my passion for demystifying technology.

Though I’m still no extrovert, putting myself out there to help more leaders continues paying rewards in so many ways!

Q. If you were to write a book about yourself, what would you name it?

Peter: I would name my book “Possibilities to Progress: My Path in Pursuing Passion”. It would be about persisting through difficulties, taking action, and always striving for growth.

Q. What motivates you?

Peter: I’m motivated by the fact that I can always improve. Different ways I’ve grown as a person in the last decade have shown that there is no limit to how much I can grow as a person and leader each new day.

Q. What is one of the best or most worthwhile investments you’ve ever made?

Peter: The best investment I’ve made is in my health, especially in the last year. In February 2023, I joined a gym for the first time in my life, started walking over 6,000 steps daily, and started cycling daily a while ago.

In addition to these, I’ve quit things like soda and alcohol and adopted a healthy diet.

Caring for my body and mind has paid so much in dividends as I feel younger and more energetic than I did 10 years ago when I was younger.

Q. What key activities would you recommend entrepreneurs invest their time in?

Peter: The key activities I’d suggest entrepreneurs should prioritize are research and continuous learning, networking with peers, and nurturing both physical and mental wellness through self-care routines. I’d also recommend a hobby outside work, for instance, I love DIY and taking things around the house apart.

Q. What is your ‘one-sentence’ piece of advice you’d like to give to someone who wants to become an entrepreneur, coach, or business owner?

Peter: My one-line nugget of advice is to never stop learning and take action by putting those learnings into practice right away.
