We’ve all been hearing about Randy Selzer the local GTA Real Estate Agent, the realtor that put a spotlight on Realty within Instagram & social media. Today, we’re bringing Randy Selzer on in our spotlight for a few questions we’ve all been meaning to ask.
Mentors Collective: Welcome to Mentors Collective Randy! We’ve seen you pop up quite a bit in our radar this year. No surprise, with all the great content you’ve been creating, we had to have you share with us here. So, let us begin with a short introductory from you!
Randy Selzer: Thank you for the kind words and warm welcome! I am a Realtor in the GTA area of Ontario Canada. I’m actually from Mississauga, so I’ve been working the real estate area in my hometown for the past 30 years.
Mentors Collective: Amazing. What made you take this path for a career?
Randy Selzer: After years working successfully in sales for a Fortune 500 company, I wanted to own my own business. My wife and I bought our first house with the help of a local realtor, and it was from that experience that I knew that working in real estate was the path I needed to follow.
Mentors Collective: Tell us some challenges you’ve had to face along the way, because we all know each successful businessman has had their fair share of them.
Randy Selzer: Well after all, those career struggles put you in a position to become something incredibly greater. The real estate industry has always been subject to risk. In today’s world we face the continued uncertainty regarding Covid-19 and its effects on the economy going forward. Other challenges include the need to embrace new technologies, effective internet presence, and new ways of interacting with potential future clients online.
Mentors Collective: Uncertainty is definitely always at play. We see you as a man of growth, so good on you for trying new things. Let’s drive away from the challenges and dive in to the motivation! Tell us a moment in your childhood that was inspirational for you.
Randy Selzer: When I was 18 years old, my best friend and I planned to go backpacking in Europe for six months. We worked hard throughout the summer to save enough for the trip, but at the last minute, my friend cancelled. I was faced with the option of cancelling the trip myself, or going to Europe on my own. I decided to go solo, and had the best trip of my life. It was truly a life-changing experience.
Mentors Collective: Always taking that risk! You must have had some inspiration behind your motive to do that. Who are some of your favorite inspiring-influential people?
Randy Selzer: My biggest influence in real estate was an American real estate trainer named Mike Ferry, who taught me the value of prospecting. My biggest inspiration comes from life coaches such as Tony Robbins, Bob Proctor, and all things pertaining to the Law of Attraction.
Mentors Collective: Those certainly are great people. In your eyes, what’s your biggest achievement?
Randy Selzer: My biggest achievement, is being father to my beautiful and talented daughter.
Mentors Collective: How sweet, we love that. Tell us something you’ve been working on recently!
Randy Selzer: The core business is ongoing services that we provide to buyers and sellers of residential real estate. We are also focused on building our online brand aggressively in Mississauga and the Greater Toronto Area.
Mentors Collective: Outside of real estate, what are you also passionate about?
Randy Selzer: My hobby, when I get the time, is to cook! Although I am not Italian, that is my favorite cuisine by far.
