Today, we sit down with Lyndsi to know a bit more about her journey as a digital marketer.

Q. Tell us a little more about your journey as an entrepreneur – how did you get started? What inspired you?

Lyndsi: When I was in college, Facebook had just started. At the time, I was working as an intern and someone told me “I want you to handle this Facebook thing, look into it for us.” So that’s what I did and I fell absolutely in love with social media marketing. At some point, I realized that small to mid-sized businesses were at a disadvantage because they weren’t able to develop strong social media strategies.

That’s why I decided to create a company that would provide customized and authentic social media strategies to help bridge this large gap. 8 years later, we continue working towards that goal and we’re passionate about helping businesses of all sizes, especially small to mid-sized businesses, with their digital marketing presence.

Q. What are your long-term goals in business? Paint a vision for the future.

Lyndsi: I’m heavily focused on my B2B clientele and personal branding. My company seeks not only to sustain the client’s social media, but also the individuals within their company. So, we develop their branding with custom content, educational videos, high-resolution photography, and focus on promoting the individuals within the company. This approach has been massively successful, so I want to focus on making this area of my business grow a lot more.

Q. What motivates you?

Lyndsi: A few things. One of them is seeing how happy my clients are with the results. I absolutely love getting phone calls and emails from clients saying that they’re getting a great response or that their company is being seen everywhere. Those types of comments move me to keep doing what I’m doing.

I also love hearing positive feedback from my team and how much they love the work that they’re doing. I find that very fulfilling! My two kids are also a major source of inspiration; I love showing them that being a business owner is both a lot of work and a lot of fun.

Q. What business-related book has inspired you the most, or, what is your favourite book?

Lyndsi: The Four Hour Workweek by Tim Ferriss was a huge inspiration to me. I read that years ago, and it’s really changed my mindset and how I operate. I am much more efficient with my time now and I don’t spend time on research or doing things that I can delegate. Being a mom of two, my time is very limited. So, I make sure that when I’m working, I’m doing things that excite me. This has helped propel my business forward and helped me grow as a professional.

Q. What strategies do you use to optimize your performance or mindset?

Lyndsi: I am very type A and schedule driven, so I know what works for me and what doesn’t. I’m always tweaking my schedule to make sure that I’m performing at my best so I try to get up earlier than everyone else at home and get the most important things done in the wee hours of the morning when I’m not distracted or getting phone calls or emails. In the afternoon, I take care of the meetings.

I also work out every single day, which gives me the energy and helps me get into the right mindset. Overall, I’m very organized and I have a very stringent to-do list. I know what my priorities are and that helps me make sure I get the most important things done first, which helps me optimize my performance.

Q. If you were to write a book about yourself, what would you name it?

Lyndsi: Enthusiasm. I absolutely love what I do, so I feel very enthusiastic about my work. I think enthusiasm has helped me get new business because it seems to rub off on my employees and clients.

Q. What is one of the best or most worthwhile investments you’ve ever made?

Lyndsi: I would say that college has been one of my most worthwhile investments. In college, I went out of my way to get internships in the digital marketing field and that has led me to where I am today. I am confident in my skills and started my own business.

I would also say that staying up to date with what’s happening in this industry is also a worthwhile investment. I’m constantly reading, learning from others, reaching out to mentors, and asking questions. I’ve always been curious and knowing that I don’t always get it right means I can continue growing.

Q. Where do you see the future in your niche/industry 3-5 years from now?

Lyndsi: Well, right now it’s all video. The start of TikTok has completely changed the digital marketing space. Everybody is picking up their phones and creating shorts or quick clips about themselves or their products. So, video is definitely a game changer. I also know that virtual reality will become a part of the general market and Facebook Meta is already trying to get Oculus, so there’s great opportunity there as well.

Q. What is your ‘one-sentence’ piece of advice you’d like to give to someone who wants to become an entrepreneur, coach, or business owner?

Lyndsi: Be willing to work extremely hard because the reward will be there in the end. Starting my own business is the best decision I’ve ever made. There have been a lot of ups and downs, but it’s very rewarding.
