Lifesaver – How Angie Manson is Helping Those in Recovery Fight for Their Lives

Addiction is a relentless disease. Affecting not only the lives of users, but their loved ones, addiction is no stranger to leaving devastation in its wake. With access to drugs and alcohol becoming increasingly easier to access, it’s no wonder so many fall prey to a vicious cycle of destructive behavior.  Over 21 million Americans have found themselves battling addiction at some point in their lives, with 90 % of them beginning to take drugs and alcohol before the age of 18. Unfortunately, only around 10% of addicts seek help. Following her own uphill battle, Elevate Addiction Services CEO & Co-Owner; Angie Manson has made it her life’s mission to save others from addiction.

Growing up in Reno, Angie was exposed to the use of illegal drugs and alcohol, from the age of 11, leading her life on a downward spiral from a very young age. Following multiple interventions and facing jail time, Angie found herself in a treatment center for her 16th birthday. “Instead of getting clean and sober, I learned to manipulate the system”, Angie recalls.

Her addiction and subsequent behavior worsened, engaging in further criminal activity led to a place in life where she was faced with a jail sentence. One judge, however, believed Angie had the power to turn her life around. “Instead of sentencing me to jail, he offered me treatment instead,” Angie said. “Thankfully this was just what I needed to turn my life around.”

A few months into her treatment, Angie began her work of giving back. “For the first time in my life, I discovered a healthy passion, and realized my true purpose was to give back to others”, she says. Angie now serves as the CEO of Elevate Addiction Services (EAS), an accredited drug and alcohol rehabilitation program located in Northern California. Taking a holistic approach to wellness and recovery that incorporates nutrition, fitness, life skills, and responsibility as key factors to staying healthy, their program consists of a specially formulated and patented curriculum that has seen EAS win multiple awards, including the “Gold Award for Excellence in Treatment“.

“Addiction isn’t something that can be completed in just 12 weeks,” says Angie. “Rather it is a fighting for your life every single day, which is why it’s so important for me to take a more modern approach to recovery.”  As well as curating numerous free resources to educate and assist people on their journey to recovery, Angie also hosts a podcast for those battling addiction and their loved ones. Bringing awareness to the stigma to hush conversations on recovery, the Elevate Experience Podcast offers incredible insight into both addiction and treatment; from how to get a loved one into rehab and recovery tips, to interviews with people on their recovery journey, and how to ask for help.

Angie and EAS’ modern approach to addiction rehabilitation is instrumental in helping people reclaim their lives. Abolishing the ‘how to stay sober’ mindset, EAS enables those in recovery with the tools to build productive habits to nourish their bodies and minds, resulting in a more fulfilling lifestyle. “We work to transform the despair of addiction into a purposeful life of confidence, self-respect, and happiness,” says Angie.
