Who would have thought that simply going grocery shopping would become a shocking event. And the shocks keep coming week after week. A dozen eggs have shot up in price more than 40%, butter is up 25%, and milk is close to 20% more than last year according to the US Beuaureu of Labor Statistics.
Will prices stabilize or even possibly go down? A bevy of prople who should know say “No”. John Catsimatidis is a billionaire who is also the owner and CEO of New York City supermarket chain Gristedes, says that food prices will “continue to rise”. Mike Adams, owner of the large online organic food store Natural News is telling people to “prepare for more food inflation and very hard times ahead”.
How To Reduce The Grocery Bill?
- Purchase food in bulk. Costco, Sams, and other restaurant supply companies can offer you a significant discount when you buy food in bulk. If you see something on sale at your local grocers pick up 5 to 10 times as much as you need this week and store it.
- Work or trade with a local farmer. Farmers always need extra hands to help with planting and harvesting. Generally a half day of work equals a big box of produce. More than enough for one person for a week. It is often really enjoyable to get outside and using your body. Plus that food will be the freshest and most nutritious food you can buy.
- Grow your own food. A backyard, community garden, balcolnies, rooftops, or nearby vacant lots are great places to start growing your own.
Growing Your Own Food Is Like Printing Your Own Money
Ron Finley, a local food activist is credited with the quote above. Ron started to grow his own food on a strip of land between the sidewalk and the street in Los Angelos. “We need to get back to making our own stuff instead of driving up to some box and ordering some double something with fries” Finely says. There are also many other benefits such as your health care costs are going to go down. You won’t need to drive as much and your gas bills will go down. And being your own farmer is so much fun you can cut out at least one or two subscriptions from Netflix, Hulu, or Prime Video.
Don’t Know How to Get Started? – Meet Marjory WIldcraft
Marjory Wildcraft was a successful business owner living in Austin, TX. One time she was volunteering on a project to get locally grown food into a nearby elementary school “I’ve always loved to volunteer in my community and this was a worthy project” Marjory says “I had no idea it would change my entire life”. The project was a huge failure. Why? It turned out there were not enough local farmers to provide even part of the vegetables to one small rural school. “I was totally shocked when I realized that if anything ever happened to the just-in-time trucking system, within four days there would be millions ofhungry Texans going beserk”. Marjory could not ignore the problem even though her friends and relatives thought she was crazy. She sold her business and began to focus on the problem of how ordinary people can provide for themselves just in their backyard. “After you learn some basic principles, it is really easy” says Marjory.
That was almost 20 years ago.
Since then Marjory has been teaching people how to become self-reliant in growing their own food at home using their backyards. She developed a simple system on how to grow half of your own food which she has taught to over 736,239 people.
The Solution Is Easier Than You Think
Marjory founded The Grow Network which is now the wolrds largest online network of people who grow their own food and make their own medicine. The “forums” are the most popular area of her webstite where a massive group of experienced backyard farmers jump in to help newbies. Need to know what is eating your cabbages? Or how often you should collect eggs? Head over the The Grow Network forums and you’ll get an answer with an hour.
