How The Sorority Nutritionist Disrupts the Dieting Space with Balance and Fun

In a world where we are increasingly trying to embrace our bodies and all their imperfections, we now know that weight loss should be approached from a place of wanting to feel better more than anything else. This means finding something that is realistic, fun, and sustainable.

For many women, navigating the ever-changing diet and fitness world can be a daunting endeavour. There’s endless free advice, nutrition plans, online trainers, and thousands of Instagram pages offering conflicting information that can make you feel out of your depth very quickly. There’s also the very real risk of people falling into a fad diet con that can be massively detrimental to physical and mental health. In a world where we are increasingly trying to embrace our bodies and all their imperfections, we now know that weight loss should be approached from a place of wanting to feel better more than anything else. This means finding something that is realistic, fun, and sustainable.

Lauren Hubert is a registered dietician and CEO of The Sorority Nutritionist, a six figure business she built by the age of 27 organically on Instagram, without the help of paid ads. Her mission statement reminds women that there’s nothing to feel guilty about in wanting to be “hot and healthy”. She aims to show women how to lose weight to make them “confident, sexy and unstoppable,” all while having fun.

“I am really proud of how disruptive yet balanced my brand is,” she tells Mentor’s Collective. “TSN is different from anything out there because I truly believe you can be ‘hot’, smart, successful, and the whole package, along with being healthy.” She adds that her framework and approach is “not about deprivation,” it’s about “education and how to fit fun into your diet while pursuing your aesthetic goals.” The Boston based business owner helped private clients collectively lose more than 1,000 pounds in 2020. She launched a successful podcast and membership program last year too.

Hubert holds every client’s hand along the whole journey, reminding them that weight loss isn’t always necessarily a straight road. She too has gone through her own fitness journey, something she is transparent about on her business pages. “There was a time before I became a registered dietician when I felt extremely frustrated with how I looked and felt so confused about what to eat to manage my weight,” she explains. “After gaining nearly 20 pounds I was left struggling with my self-confidence and insecure in my body. Although I was having the time of my life, I felt so uncomfortable in my skin and inspired to make a change.”

Through her own damaging weight loss journey, which saw her running six to seven miles every day, cutting out food groups, and developing unhealthy eating habits as a result of various diet programs, she realized she needed to do the research herself. “It wasn’t until I began studying nutrition when I realized my entire approach to ‘dieting’ was all wrong,” she admits. She found herself trying diets that completely disrupted her social life and gave her regular food guilt. This inspired her to get her master’s degree in nutrition, an experience that completely changed her attitude towards food. “This was when I began to realize that eating and managing your weight is a lot easier than all these diet programs make it to be.”

Hubert has made a huge difference in the lives of her clients through her honest, personable, and no-judgement approach to weight loss. She offers one-to-one coaching for people looking for something that will finally work, for the people who have tried shakes, supplements, and diet plans to no avail.  “The Sorority Nutritionist is unique because it truly brings together women from all walks of life, we’re all the same,” she says. She insists that weight loss becomes a lot more attainable when you first have a plan in place, but more importantly, when you have a support network.
