Exclusive with the Founder of Tomii International Inc, Guanghuo Lighter Chen

Guanghuo Lighter Chan is a Chinese-American entrepreneur, scientist, healthcare professional, and wellness specialist. He established Tianjin Tongyi Software Co. Ltd in 1991 and ran it until 2003. The company developed a Chinese and English Translation System.

Then, in 2007, he founded Tomii International Inc in Anaheim, California. He leveraged years of business expertise and experience with natural healing, Chi analysis, and acupressure to develop the Tomii Meridian Energy Chi Analysis and Balance System, a scientific approach to Traditional Chinese Medicine. This system finds blockages and imbalances within minutes, which are the root of chronic pain, fatigue, imbalance in blood pressure, and more.

With the Tomii system, Dr. Chen helps clients achieve measurable and sustainable health results non-invasive, naturally without turning to chemical pills and suffering their side effects.

Today, we sit down with Guanghuo to learn a bit more about his journey as an entrepreneur.

Q. Tell us a little more about your journey as an entrepreneur – how did you get started? What inspired you?

Guanghuo: Well, I established my first business, Tianjin Tongyi Software Co. Ltd, in 1991. We developed English and Chinese translation software, which successfully ran until 1998. That year, I started having health issues. In 2003, I emigrated to the United States, where I was diagnosed with Type II diabetes. It was a shock because Type II diabetes can be very difficult to heal and be a lifelong issue.

I started taking medicine, but the side effects hit me hard. I was in a lot of pain, and I told my doctor I wanted to find an alternative solution and that’s what I focused on. I used acupuncture and acupressure to treat myself, which worked very well. When I returned to the doctor, my blood glucose was controlled. He asked me how I accomplished it and when I told him, he was very surprised.

That’s when I knew I wanted to share my experience with the world and help others with chronic health issues. In 2007, I founded Tomii International Inc and, since then, we have innovated with the development of the Tomii Meridian Energy Chi Analysis and Balance System. This system identifies imbalances and finds blockages, allowing us to help people enjoy measurable and sustainable health results naturally. So far, I’ve helped thousands of clients get their health back.

Q. If you had to paint a vision for the future, what would that look like?

Guanghuo: Right now, we have a prototype clinic in Anaheim. What I want for the future is to create a franchise or get a license agreement to build clinics throughout the United States and help millions of Americans who suffer from chronic health issues. I want this natural alternative treatment to be available to many people. I also want to train other industry professionals and provide them with acupuncturist knowledge and skills so they can help their clients achieve more effective and powerful health results.

Q. What motivates you?

Guanghuo: What motivates me the most is helping people and providing a solution that works. Many of my clients come in, and they’re in so much pain they can hardly stand upright sometimes or they have poor digestion or low immunity, among other things. After several sessions, I can see their change and how happy they are to be rid of the pain and health issues that bothered them. This is what motivates me to continue growing my business and reach more people.

Q. What business-related book has inspired you the most or what would you consider to be your favorite book?

Guanghuo: Well, it’s not a book, but I got a piece of advice years ago that I think we all need. I was told to find a wealth management program and apply to it. I took the advice, and that’s something that changed my life. These programs provide useful tools to help businessmen develop the necessary skill set to build a successful business, so I believe it’s a must.

Q. What strategies do you use to optimize your performance or your mindset

Guanghuo: I measure my performance in many different ways. First, I look at my Energy. Not only the energy that I have within myself but also the energy I give to all my coworkers and clients. Then, I think about the executive side of things. When I have an idea, I just do it, I leave excuses out of the equation. I also measure my ego. As an entrepreneur, things sometimes get tough and we have to make tough decisions, so I just do it without hesitation. Passion is another important measure for me. When you have passion, you can succeed.

Q. If you were to write a book about yourself, what would you name it?

Guanghuo: I am currently writing a book about the pathway to health and energy. I focus on the atomic meridian energy balancing system and how it can help people get healthy. So, it’s not a book about myself, but I share my knowledge and expertise, which I think is much more important.

Q. What is one of the best or what you consider to be the most worthwhile investment you’ve ever made?

Guanghuo: I think the best investment I’ve ever made is founding Tomii International Inc. I’ve invested all my capital and energy into it to help my clients get healthy naturally, and I think it has been the most worthwhile project of my life.

Q. Where do you see the future in your industry in the next three to five years from now?

Guanghuo: I think that in the next 3 to 5 years, we will see many more people use alternative treatments and medicine instead of Western medication and surgery. I strive to help people see the value of acupressure therapy and how much of a difference it can make in their wellness and healing journey. In 5 years, maybe 10, Tomii International Inc. will have healing and wellness locations across the United States to provide that alternative people will be looking for.

Q. What is your ‘one-sentence’ piece of advice you’d like to give to someone who wants to become an entrepreneur, coach, or business owner?

Guanghuo: The one piece of advice I’d like to give is: to be consistent and never ever give up. When you have a vision, work hard to make it come true, no matter how difficult things get. Whatever happens, if you don’t give up, you will win.
