Here we sit down with Pamela, to know a bit more about her journey as an empowerment coach.

Q. What inspired you to become an entrepreneur?

Pamela: I am very passionate about coaching. And to provide coaching in my field I needed to become an entrepreneur at the time. So even though it wasn’t my original plan to start a business, I’m grateful that this happened as it allowed me to learn and grow professionally and personally in powerful ways that I would have never anticipated, along with meeting amazing entrepreneurs and forming meaningful partnerships with like-minded professionals all over the world.

Q. How did you get started?

Pamela: While working as a psychologist earlier in my career I always felt something was missing to help my clients in the best possible ways. I wasn’t quite clear on what the missing pieces were at the time. Several years later a cancer diagnosis, which I consider a blessing in disguise and a powerful wake-up call to put my own self-care at the top of the list, changed my life for the best.

With the shift in priorities, coaching fell into my lap (a lovely pop up about what became my first coaching training and certification showed up) while searching for organic dark chocolate. Coaching in the health field wasn’t that popular back then, but after reading more about it I fell in love with it, allowing the missing pieces to come together. From there over time several opportunities to learn, train, and grow personally and professionally became part of my journey, which has been an amazing one so far.

Q. What was your biggest startup challenge? What steps did you take to overcome it? What did you learn?

Pamela: The biggest startup challenge, which was exciting at the same time too, was starting a business and marketing my services. I had zero experience with either. I’ve been fortunate that my first coaching training provided me with the basic tools to do that, which made things for sure easier at the beginning and I was able to coach clients pretty quickly.

It was a process, with ups and opportunities for growth, as things change and it requires you to adapt, learn new things, and make shifts. What has been helpful is to have an open mind, a learning and growth mindset, learning from the mistakes, and be okay with needing some time to figure things out. The last one being the most challenging to do. In the most recent years another big lesson has been not to buy into things that don’t fully resonate with you or they sound like you need them, when in reality you don’t. I’ve been fully embracing this lesson for a long while and it’s been paying off in many ways.

Q. What is the Most Memorable Thing You’ve Done Since you Started your Business?

Pamela: Not sure where to start, there’re so many memorable things that pop in my head with this question. All the countless moments I get to witness and hear the powerful positive impact my clients and workshop or classes attendees have experienced is for sure one.

Every situation and client are unique and while I’m well aware of all the coaching benefits I can provide, there’re always the ones that blow my mind. I have worked with coaches myself and I use all the coaching skills learned and experiences in my personal life, so I know also first-hand how coaching significantly has been impacting my life in a meaningful and fulfilling way.

Q. What is one book you recommend, and why?

Pamela: This isn’t an easy question as I have more than one book I like. Many I work with strive for perfection rather than striving for excellence, which is something that is more common than what people normally would think. So, The Gifts of Imperfection by Brené Brown is one of the books I’d recommend.

Q. In terms of legacy, what is the mark you’d like to leave on the world?

Pamela: The mark I’d like to leave is to be a source of inspiration to others so that they can live a life according to their true Self and desires; additionally contributing to a happier, healthier, and more fulfilled society.

Q. In one sentence, what’s the best advice you’d give to someone just starting out on their entrepreneurial journey?

Pamela: Surround yourself with uplifting people, keep it simple, and seek the support you truly need.
