Here we sit down with Dr. Cody, as we learn a bit more about his entrepreneurial journey.

What inspired you to become an entrepreneur?

Dr. Cody: I honestly think I was born to do this. I have always wanted to own and run my own business and I never went into business to stay small. Even though I am from a very small town in rural Minnesota, the sky has always been the limit.

How did you get started?

Dr. Cody: I worked for another Chiropractor when I first moved to Sydney and while I enjoyed what I did as a practitioner, the business was never my baby and I learned a lot through that experience. Some on what to do and also some on what not to do and that was the most important aspect of my employment. I took all of that experience and recognised the opportunities that have been presented to me and went with it. I went from working for someone to consulting at a medical/allied health centre, to buying and then expanding a solo practice and I never looked back.

What was your biggest startup challenge? What steps did you take to overcome it? What did you learn?

Dr. Cody: Fear of failure was my biggest challenge. Your self-saboteur is a strong wall but ultimately I assessed the risk and relied on what I have learned and experienced and I let that fear go and believed in myself. I also had some amazing people help me and guide me and reassure me and listen to me and that was absolutely necessary.

What is the Most Memorable Thing You’ve Done Since you Started your Business?

Dr. Cody: Bringing on my first associate was a huge step for my business but also moving premises and expanding by 3 times the space. COVID was a very interesting situation but ultimately my business grew 43% in 2020. I was very fortunate but also I was able to adapt and keep pushing forward.

What is one book you recommend, and why?

Dr. Cody: Good to Great by Jim Collins. Ultimately, it taught me that having employees isn’t a burden but you have to treat everyone with respect and help them reach their dreams too. I never felt like I had that when I was working for someone else.

What are your top 3 favourite online apps, tools, or resources and what do you love about them?

Dr. Cody: TikTok, Instagram, and VideoShop. It is how I am able to reach millions of people around the world and show what I do.

In terms of legacy, what is the mark you’d like to leave on the world?

Dr. Cody: He was always willing to help anyone.

In one sentence, what’s the best advice you’d give to someone just starting out on their entrepreneurial journey?

Dr. Cody: You can’t do everything so ask for help and LISTEN.
