Here we sit down with Maureen, to know a bit more about her journey as a life coach.

Q. What inspired you to become an entrepreneur?

Maureen: I worked in the corporate world for 28 years, I realized I wanted to have the freedom to be my own boss and be able to follow my purpose.

Q. How did you get started?

Maureen: I’ve been in the Healthcare field for 25+ years. I was always more interested in the behavioral aspect versus health. While on my honeymoon in Belize, I had so many people asking my advice, I started a travel blog and discovered a new career- “life-coaching”. I knew I had been doing this for others my entire life and decided I should pursue this as a business. I started the business and it took off which inspired me to write my first book. The rest is Herstory 🙂

Q. What was your biggest startup challenge? What steps did you take to overcome it? What did you learn?

Maureen: My biggest challenge has been marketing. As a person, I am not into sales. I don’t need to be sold to and I don’t like to sell to others. My motto for my business is to “build it and they will come” and they have. Still, one must embrace the technology and marketing of social media so I have learned to embrace it by integrating my coaching messages which bring clients to me.

Q. What is the Most Memorable Thing You’ve Done Since you Started your Business?

Maureen: The most memorable thing has been becoming a best-selling author. I never inspired or aspired to be a writer. I consider myself a great verbal communicator, but the writing has allowed me to connect with others and make a difference for my readers.

Q. What is one book you recommend, and why?

Maureen: How about two? Mine- My Dog is My Relationship Coach and My Dog is More Enlightened Than I Am. Both books give a perspective from a dog’s unconditionally fun and loving ways to live our lives while also giving real-world tips and stories of how I have overcome the very things I coach.

Q. What are your top 3 favourite online apps, tools, or resources and what do you love about them?

Maureen: I believe YouTube is a great resource for motivational and inspirational stories and videos. I also really love online courses that give people the ability to learn and grow while being convenient and affordable. Udemy is my preference and recommendation.

Q. In terms of legacy, what is the mark you’d like to leave on the world?

Maureen: I’d love others to feel that they were better for knowing and encountering me. That I lived the words I spoke with integrity and compassion.

Q. In one sentence, what’s the best advice you’d give to someone just starting out on their entrepreneurial journey?

Maureen: You won’t know everything all at once, be ok with learning as you go. Understand it’s a marathon and not a sprint, you will need each experience along the way.
