Here we sit down with Kyy, to know a bit more about her journey as an entrepreneur.

Q. What inspired you to become an entrepreneur?

Kyy: Becoming an entrepreneur gave me the chance to show my talent on a different level than the surface level that most jobs wanted to apply myself to. I wanted to be able to be free and create how I want without having to stay in certain lines with everything.

Q. How did you get started?

Kyy: I started off as blogging just to get my thoughts and views on certain things out there. Then shortly after I launched my blog I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression and went through a miscarriage. One day, I finally wrote about it on my blog and after that, I start helping people with more and more life-altering experiences, and in 2021 became a certified life coach.

A full-time college student working three jobs while running a blog and learning how to manage her new diagnosis was a lot but I managed it all. While running my blog I got into content creation because I needed graphics to share what I was posting on my site as well as to use on my site. As that went on, more people started reaching out and asking for graphics and asking for different ways of how to to get their brand a certain way or if I could help create graphics for them. This was the start of KM SVCS. Now with only being open for over seven months, we have worked with over 2o businesses and been able to create content and brand their businesses.

Q. What was your biggest startup challenge? What steps did you take to overcome it? What did you learn?

Kyy: My biggest startup challenge was believing in myself and getting over my imposter syndrome. I knew that I could do the project at hand but my mind kept telling me that I couldn’t or that they wouldn’t like it while I was working on the project. I overcame it by looking back at my work and progress and seeing how everything was created, and by getting feedback from everyone whose project I’ve worked on. I learned that it is me. Business isn’t linear, it’s a lot of twists and turns but knowing that I never give up and always continue to push through. Makes business fun.

Q. What is the Most Memorable Thing You’ve Done Since you Started your Business?

Kyy: The most memorable thing I’ve done since starting KM SVCS was helping one of my clients understand that they could have a website and a logo but if there is no purpose or meaning behind the brand then it wouldn’t work. We were able to have a meeting and implement the KMS Core Plan in their business and see how much more engagement and clients they started to receive. By using our core plan the client received so much feedback within 3 months of launching it.

Q. What is one book you recommend, and why?

Kyy: One book I would recommend is All About Love by Bell Hooks because it all starts with you. You have to love yourself and believe in yourself before others will and that book taught me how to love myself even more.

Q. What are your top 3 favourite online apps, tools, or resources and what do you love about them?

Kyy: My top 3 favorite online apps are Pinterest, Youtube, and Twitter. Pinterest because that is where I get my inspiration to keep going because I believe, one day, people will use my pins and share them all over. Youtube because that is my favorite learning app. You seriously can learn anything off of Youtube from other creators or even well-known businesses. Twitter because that is the easiest way to connect with people without having to be extremely professional.

Q. In terms of legacy, what is the mark you’d like to leave on the world?

Kyy: The mark that I would love to leave on the world is just making a difference in someone’s life. I want them to say something like “I remember when I was struggling with business or with a life-altering event and Kyy helped me and I was able to get through it with XYZ steps.”

Q. In one sentence, what’s the best advice you’d give to someone just starting out on their entrepreneurial journey?

Kyy: “Shooters shoot” when I say this I mean there is nobody like you so take that leap out on faith and start your business. It doesn’t matter if there are 15 other businesses doing the same thing exact thing that you are doing, they will not be doing it like you. So shoot your shot at that business and be the best you, you can be.
