Why is this subject, “Lessons from the Legends,” important in the world?
I believe that now, more than ever, we need to rediscover our passion and focus on CHARACTER rather than reputation. For your character is who you ARE… your reputation is only what others think you are. As America’s Breakthrough Speaker, I seek to teach everyone that they are the CEOs of their own lives and that when they focus on controlling their controllable, they will generate momentum, breakthroughs, and joy in their lives.
What is the pressing issue right and how are you addressing it?
The pressing issue is that for the last 7 or 8 years, I have seen a disappointing movement towards EGO rather than WE GO, more about HYPE than HUMILITY. We need to rediscover how to disagree without being disagreeable. To live with integrity, energy, compassion, and kindness.

What is your background in this subject?
I have been a professional speaker and author for 33 years and have delivered nearly 1,900 presentations around the world on leadership and team building. In my first career I was a United States Swimming coach working with athletes to rise to their potential. In my second career, I became a vice president of two large corporations as I moved from the world of athletic performance to business performance. And in my third career these past 33 years my passion is to ignite breakthroughs for every participant in my speaking events and every reader of my books in every area of their lives, both personally and professionally.
What is something that most people don’t know about you?
Most people don’t know that I am actually a bit shy in social situations. They see me on stage doing what I love with great energy and spirit and naturally think I am an extrovert in all areas of my life. I have had to learn and work at overcoming that shyness.
What are your passions outside of your career?
My family (I have two beautiful daughters, my incredible wife of 38 years, and two wonderful grandchildren) is my greatest love and passion. I also love fitness, walking, hiking, and being in nature!
Are there any social causes that you believe in and support?
I am passionate about the environment and about elevating KINDNESS in business, communities, and the world!
What is next for you?
I am more passionate about my speaking than EVER! I want to reach as many people as I can in the next ten years with my breakthrough teachings!
